A pair of children's glasses can look wonderful in a display and still fail in daily life if it slips, feels heavy, presses behind the ears or does not position the lenses correctly. Personal care at Kidoptic means that we do not rush from frame to order. We check each stage so the final pair becomes a reliable part of the child's day.
1. We begin with the prescription and real needs
A current prescription is the foundation. We ask whether this is the first pair, whether the prescription has changed, how many hours the glasses will be worn and whether the ophthalmologist has provided specific instructions. We also want to understand the child's routine: school, sport, outdoor activities, screen use and any previous difficulty with glasses.
This conversation helps us identify priorities. One child may need maximum stability; another may need a lighter result for a stronger prescription; another may need a simple, durable first pair that makes adaptation easy.
2. We find a frame that fits now
Children's glasses should not be purchased significantly larger “to last longer”. An oversized frame can slip, change the position of the lenses and become uncomfortable. We examine overall width, bridge fit, temple length and the position of the child's eyes within the frame.
The child's opinion matters too. When children feel involved and like their glasses, they are more likely to wear and care for them. We guide the choice so personal style and correct fit work together.
3. We choose lenses for the complete situation
We mainly work with HOYA lenses, selecting the material, design and coating according to the prescription, frame and daily use. We compare thickness, weight, impact resistance, reflection control and cleaning needs. We recommend upgrades only when they offer a clear practical advantage.
If the child has been prescribed a specialised solution, such as a myopia-management lens, we follow the ophthalmologist's instructions and pay particular attention to frame stability and measurements.
4. We measure after the frame is adjusted
Accurate lenses require accurate positioning. We first adjust the frame on the child's face and then record the necessary measurements. Pupillary distance, fitting height and the frame's wearing position influence how the child looks through the finished lenses.
This stage cannot be replaced by guessing from age or using an average number. Children of the same age can have very different facial proportions.
5. We verify the finished pair
Before collection, we check the order and the physical finish. During fitting, we confirm that the frame is level, secure and comfortable, without unnecessary pressure. We explain how to put the glasses on and remove them with both hands, how to clean the lenses and how to store the pair safely.
6. Support continues after purchase
Frames can loosen and children grow. A small adjustment can restore comfort and keep the lenses in the correct position. We encourage families to contact us if the glasses begin to slip, feel uncomfortable or are not being worn as expected. Early correction is easier than allowing a small problem to become a reason for rejection.
Why personal care creates confidence
Parents do not need to understand every technical term before visiting us. Our responsibility is to explain the meaningful choices clearly, respect the prescription and propose a solution that fits the child and the family's priorities. We aim to make the process calm, transparent and genuinely useful.
If you would like individual guidance, contact Kidoptic or visit us with the child and the current prescription. We will take the time to understand the situation and build a pair that supports clear vision, comfort and confidence every day.
